What is code of Ethics?

Code of Ethics outlines the general ethical standards that all of our team is expected to live by. This Code of Ethics is intended to address ethical concerns that we, as massage therapists, may face on our daily basis. This summary of standards enhances the reputation of our profession with strongly values integrity, respect, and truthfulness that will maintain the confidence of the clients and retain the highest quality of our professional team.

MY CODE OF ETHICS

  1. Abide all laws, rules, and regulations of government agencies and authorities.

    1. Following any policy of accrediting agencies,

    2. Adhere to all federal, state or any existing local law regulation

  2. Respect the interests, dignity, rights, and needs of clients, the staff working with us and colleagues.

    1. Respect all clients, colleagues and professionals, without discrimination based on sex, age, race, nationality, sexual orientation, religion.

    2. Do not judge any client’s related culture which has to be respected at all time and during the therapeutic relationship with them.

  3. Behave with integrity, honesty, sincerity and diligence in our practice and in the performance of our duties.

    1. Respect the field of other professionals such as doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists.

    2. Respect all health professionals and work with them to maintain or restore the health of the client.

  4. Must provide the client a professional, competent and careful service, with the highest quality possible.

    1. Provide client a safe, comfortable and clean environment. Follow all rules and regulations regarding cleanliness and sanitation of premises, instruments, sheets, tables, etc.

    2. Do not distribute or use illegal or unauthorized drugs or alcohol drinks in the property. Working under the influence of medical or illegal drugs is also prohibited.

  5. Recognize the limitations of training, skills and experience.

    1. Explain to the customer truthfully and honestly the level of training and experience therapist had achieved.        

    2. Perform only those services for which they are qualified.

  6. Refer the client to a qualified professional when:

    1. Client has a health condition that exceeds the possibilities and the field of the scope of practice of therapeutic massage.

    2. Client needs to be diagnosed or need a second opinion that exceeds the knowledge and skills of the massage therapist.

  7. Keep confidentiality of the business and clients at no less than highest standard.

    1. Avoid disclosing non-public, trade secrets, or any related information of the business or its clients to unauthorized persons, with the exception of some requirements where disclosure is legally mandated.

    2. Medical records of clients, financial and employee’s information are confidential and private and must be protected as required by privacy laws and regulations.

  8. Protect the business practices acting with professionalism, honesty and respect for ethical standards.

    1. Charge the customer a fair price.

    2. Do not accept gratuities, gifts or any outside benefit with the intention to do business, to take advantage of any treatment or to provide private information to a competitor of the business.

  9. Professionally improved through continuous training and regular evaluation of the capabilities, limitations and effectiveness of professional practice.

    1. Regularly submit to review our ethical practices and/or any new learned technique by colleagues or with a higher trained professional.

    2. Stay in good physical and mental condition.

  10. Therapists, managers, supervisors or any other member of the staff may not engage in a sexual, romantic, or dating relationship with current clients or any other subordinate employees.

    1. All members are obligated to avoid any behavior that may trespass any boundaries between clients or colleagues.

 

Under all circumstances, any type of sexual misconduct is not allowed, including the use of social networking and media, sexting or other non-direct contact relationship with clients or colleagues.
